Romelu Lukaku submits not guilty plea over noise complaint arrest in Los Angeles

Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku has denied holding an excessively loud party at a property in Beverley Hills duirng the summer.

The Belgian was arrested over a noise complaint on July 2 after allegedly being issued with five verbal warnings from police over the course of five days. The arrest happened shortly before the striker finalised his move from Everton to United. The 24-year-old did not appear in court in Los Angeles, although his legal representative, Robert Humphreys, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. Commissioner Jane Godfrey, who is overseeing the case, ordered Lukaku to appear at Los Angeles Airport Courthouse on November 21. Despite this request, Lukaku can opt not to appear in person at the hearing, with his lawyer handling the matter on his behalf again. City attorney James Eckart indicated after the hearing that Lukaku is likely to have to pay a fine and a fee which covers the cost of the police call-outs to the noise complaints. Lukaku is expected to feature for his national side against Bosnia Herzegovina over the weekend, despite Belgium already sealing their qualification for next summer's World Cup. On Saturday, he scored his eleventh goal in ten appearances for United in the 4-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace.
