Ukip leader Paul Nuttall admits claims he lost a ‘close personal friend at Hillsborough’ are false

Ukip leader Paul Nuttall has admitted that claims made on his website that he lost a "close personal friend" at Hillsborough are false.

What are the Tories frightened of? The people of Liverpool will be disgusted by these cowardly moves to hide the truth." It goes on to add: "Revealing the facts on Hillsborough is hardly a matter of national security, it is a matter of natural justice. The briefings in question are the private memos that were sent to the then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Without them being made public we will never get to the bottom of that appalling tragedy when 96 Liverpool fans including close personal friends of mine lost their lives.” Here's the article in full. When Nuttall was presented with the details of this article on Radio City News, he said "that's not from me. That is absolutely... I'm sorry. I haven't lost anyone who was a close personal friend. It was people who I knew through football and things like that." Nuttall went on to add: "I just want to make it perfectly clear. I was there on that day. I've got witnesses, people who will stand up in court and back me 100 per cent." When pressed further on his whereabouts on that tragic day in Sheffield, he suggested that there's a campaign that's "cruel and it's nasty. It's making out as if my family are lying as well, which is just not fair or right."
