A major European airport has been evacuated due to a "police situation" leading to large disruption to operations.
The airport is currently one of the most disrupted in the world as per Flightradar24 with a number of flights being delayed or cancelled.
Meanwhile, passengers on planes were made to disembark.
This morning (11 June) police evacuated the airside section of Hamburg Airport in Germany meaning everyone past security were forced to leave.
The airport operator has said all departures have been temporarily cancelled as emergency services respond to the incident.
German news outlet Bild reported the incident saying "chaos reigns".
The news site has reported that the airport has since reopened, however, knock-on delays are to be expected.
Bild said that the "police situation" was caused by a person "gaining unauthorised access to the security area.
It said that "departures were cancelled" while "flight operations have been slowly resuming".
The intruder is a man, an airport spokesperson told the paper.
"This passenger was immediately located by the Federal Police and brought back to the public area. Nevertheless, in such cases, the Federal Police must take a precautionary measure and completely evacuate the passenger pier," they said.
Hamburg is one of Germany's biggest and busiest airports, seeing millions of passengers pass through its doors each year.
In 2024, it was the fifth busiest airport in the country, with 14,828,71 people using the airport.
