A British holidaymaker has died after he fell from the balcony of a hotel in Ibiza.
John McKenna, from Carlisle, Cumbria, was killed after the fall at the one-star hotel in the party resort of San Antonio on Friday (June 23) morning.
The 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics to save him.
Emergency services were called to the budget Hotel Llevant, which belongs to the Azuline Hotel Group, at around 11am, the Metro reports.
It is understood he fell from the balcony of a room he was staying in with a friend.
The friend has reportedly been questioned by police but McKenna's death is not being treated as suspicious.
An investigation being led by the Civil Guard, and coordinated by a local investigating judge, is ongoing.
A Civil Guard spokesman, speaking yesterday afternoon, said: "A 22-year-old British man has died this morning after plunging from the third floor of a hotel in San Antonio.
"The incident is still being investigated."
McKenna, who worked as an electrician, played Sunday league football for local side Scotby FC.
In a tweet, the club wrote: "Today we lost a legend, a brilliant player but an even better person.
"Never forgotten but loved always. RIP big John."
A number of McKenna's friends have paid tribute to him, and local football clubs have laid flowers at Scotby in his memory.
No update has been given on the circumstances leading up to the young man's death.
