Elon Musk’s ex-wife says she’s ‘proud’ of their child after they decide to sever all ties with billionaire

Elon Musk's ex-wife has said she is "very proud" of their child after the announcement that she wants to cut ties with her father. Musk's daughter, who recently turned 18, identifies as a trans woman and had filed a request to change her name in accordance with her new gender at the Los Angeles County superior court, Santa Monica back in April. As per the court petition observed by Reuters, she stated: "I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form" - effectively looking to disown the billionaire from Friday when her official hearing is set to begin. Formerly known as Xavier Alexander Musk, she is the daughter of the business tycoon and his first wife, Justine Wilson. The couple separated in 2008 and now apparently wishes to take her mother's maiden name as part of her new identity, with TMZ reporting that she intends to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson. The 18-year-old plans to take the maiden name of her mother, Justine Wilson, who was married to Musk from 2000 to 2008 before divorcing. On Monday evening, Justine, who is an author, tweeted that she was "very proud" of her daughter. Recounting a conversation she apparently had with the teen, she wrote: "'I had a weird childhood,' my 18 year old said to me. 'I can't believe I'm as normal-seeming as I am.'" She continued: "I said, 'I'm very proud of you.'" However, the billionaire has in the past voiced his disapproval at people's use of pronouns, saying that they "suck." It also comes after Musk has signalled he is prepared to back Republican politicians for office.
