Facebook, of course, would never do something as mean as notify you when you’ve been removed as a friend, but there’s an app that can do it for you, if you’re so brave as to risk learning which of your friends isn’t as pally-pally with you as you may think.
Who Deleted Me, available as an app on iOS and Android and as a browser extension, saves your list of Facebook friends the first time you log in and subsequently compares that original list with your friends list every time you return to use it.
So, for example, if you log in for the first time today and then return to Who Deleted Me six months from now, it will be able to tell you what friends you've lost in the intervening period.
It will also be able to clarify whether you've been removed because said friends have deleted their account or if they've simply decided that your Facebook friendship should come to an end.
We could suggest that people should be more concerned with maintaining actual relationships with people that matter to them in real life than artificial ones on Facebook.
We're sure that if you happen to be the victim of a cull, however, it was them and not you.
