Spain have won the Women's World Cup for the first time in their history, beating England in the final.
In their first ever World Cup final appearance, Spain triumphed 1-0 to win their first World Cup.
Olga Carmona's first-half strike was enough to see Spain over the line in a nervy final.
England had looked to be given a lifeline when Mary Earps saved Jennifer Hermoso's penalty in the 69th minute, but they couldn't find a way past Spain and rarely looked liked scoring.
The penalty save was just one moment in a stunning performance from Earps, who pulled off some outstanding saves during the match to keep England in the game.
At half time, Sarina Wiegman introduced Lauren James and Chloe Kelly to try and inject some potency into England's attack, but Spain continued to control the game.
The defeat is just England's second in two years under Wiegman, and saw Spain get an element of revenge over the side that beat them in the quarter finals of the Euros last year.
Spain's win also marks an incredible turn around for a side that went into the tournament shrouded in controversy.
A dispute between players and the Spanish football federation had seen the side go into the World Cup without some of their best players, who had been frozen out of the Spanish set up after raising concerns over the training methods of coach Jorge Vilda.
Meanwhile, for England, and English football, the wait for a World Cup triumph goes on. But Sarina Wiegman's team had already made history by reaching the their first ever Women's World Cup final, and can leave the tournament with their heads held high.
