Ruben Amorim has told reporters that Manchester United are going to have to 'suffer' as his team adjusts to his new ideas.
The Reds got off to a flying start under Amorim as Marcus Rashford scored inside the opening two minutes to put them ahead against Ipswich Town however, they failed to capitalise on the early momentum.
Just before half-time after mounting pressure from the hosts, United conceded and neither side could find a winner in the second half.
After the final whistle Amorim said: "I know it is frustrating for the fans but we are changing so much in this moment with a lot of games.
"We are going to suffer for a long period. We will try to win games but this will take time.
"We have to risk it a little bit [now] and in the next year we will be better [otherwise] next year at the same stage we will be here with the same problems."
Fans were right behind their new boss as they revealed their new chant for him at the full time whistle - "Ruben Amorim, Amorim, Ruben Amorim" to the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band’s ‘Give it Up’.
However, it was a disappointing 90 minutes for the travelling fans who would be forgiven for thinking they were still watching a Ten Ha team.
In his pre-match press conference, the 39-year-old manager had refused to commit to how much time he needed to return this side to its former glory but silenced his critics by saying: "You guys don’t think it’s possible, I do."
He said: "We need a lot of time because it’s a tough league, we have to improve a lot to try to win the title.
"If you want to speak about the team and the way we play, we lose the ball too often. We have to be better at running back and we have to be very good in the details.
"It’s the small things, we have to improve the small things. Understanding the small things, I think is what I’m good at."
Buckle up Reds, it's going to be a long ride!
