Photos posted online suggest Manchester United might have completed signings of Willian and Alderweireld

They could well be photoshopped

Manchester United's summer has not gone as well as many fans had hoped. While their rivals have invested in young players who fit their respective club's philosphies, United have signed Fred and nobody else. They have been linked with Harry Maguire recently, while Toby Alderweireld is also on their radar as they search for a ball playing centre-back. In attack, José Mourinho is desperate for a winger to add width on the right hand side. It's no secret that he was keen to bring Ivan Perisic to Old Trafford, but Inter Milan's high asking price has discouraged United from pursuing the Croatian. Perisic's compatriot Ante Rebic is the latest winger to be linked with United aftera good World Cup, but the player who seems most likely to end up at United is Willian. The Chelsea winger performed well under Mourinho in Chelsea's title winning 2014/15 campaign and was the only Chelsea player to perform well in the catastrophic 2015/16 season when the Blues finished 10th. Photos of Toby Alderweireld and Willian in Manchester United shirts have been circulating round social media recently, sparking rumours that the two deals have been completed. If they are, they're incredibly well polished. Both Alderweireld and Willian are pushing thirty years of age, which has triggered alarm bells among the United fan base. It's clear that Mourinho has no regard for the long term, thinking only of the immediate performance of his teams, and thus the legacy that he leaves behind. At this rate, his legacy will be spending hundreds of millions on players, only to finish far behind their far superior neighbours.
