There's a famous tale of how Mourinho cried when he was told that David Moyes got the Manchester United job when Alex Ferguson retired, and it's believed the club's American owners are not fully convinced LvG is the man to restore the club's fortunes as they have endured a difficult start to the campaign in front of goal.
