After finishing 15th in the Premier League, last season was the worst Manchester United have endured since the 1970s, and the club are now expected to make big changes to their massively underperforming squad.
The Red Devils have already added Brazilian Wolves star Matheus Cunha to their numbers and are expected to seal a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo in the coming weeks.
In order to make more signings possible, United will have to move a few players out the door to free up their wage bill.
Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony have been classed by manager Ruben Amorim as surplus to requirements and are currently being offered to clubs around Europe for a potential sale.
While the three-time Champions League winners are yet to sell any of their players, The Red Devils have today announced that nine of their players will not have their contracts extended by the club — leaving them free to depart.
Defender Jonny Evans has announced his retirement from football. He will now take up a new role at the club behind the scenes as Manchester United’s head of loans and pathways.
Also from the first-team, Victor Lindelof and Christian Erikson will leave the club today.
Lindelof joined The Red Devils in 2017 and has made 284 performances for the club while Erikson joined in 2021 and has played 107 games, scoring eight times.
The other six departures come from The Red Devils' youth set up. Hubert Graczyk, Jack Kingdon, Sam Murray, Tom Myles, James Nolan and Tom Wooster have all left.
Former academy graduate and current third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton had also been expected to leave, but the 39-year-old signed a new contract on Friday.
