The alleged assault is believed to have happened after Manchester City's victory over Schalke 04 in the Champions League
Manchester City have confirmed that one of their supporters is in a critical condition in hospital after an alleged assault on Wednesday evening.
The supporter, who is yet to be named, was reportedly attacked after City's win over the Bundesliga side at the VELTINS-Arena, a game which saw the Citizens recover from 2-1 down to seal a late 3-2 victory.
City acknowledged the news in a brief statement on Thursday: "Manchester City are aware of an alleged assault after the match at the VELTINS-Arena in Germany last night.
"The club are working with Greater Manchester Police and German Police to ascertain more information.
"Club staff have remained in Germany to support the family of an injured City fan who is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
"Anyone with information that can help the Police should contact 101."
