Manchester City are the only English club in the top 10 of the Uefa rankings

Manchester City are the highest-ranked English club in the latest UEFA coefficient table and the only Premier League side to appear in the top ten.

Based on the results of clubs competing in the five previous seasons of the Champions League and Europa League, the rankings are used to determine the seeding of each club in all UEFA competition draws. City currently lead the way for the English clubs and occupy ninth place, two spaces ahead of Arsenal in 11th. Chelsea, who didn't play in Europe last season after a poor domestic campaign in 2015/16, are 13th while Europa League winners Manchester United have risen to 16th. Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid top the ranking having successfully defended their Champions League crown in Cardiff. Their city rivals Atletico have now risen to second, taking the place of Barcelona. Tottenham are just outside the top 20 in 22nd place, whereas Liverpool, who face a Champions League qualifier later this summer, are in 35th. The only other English club to make it into the top 50 are Leicester City, whose run to the Champions League quarter finals last season is enough to secure a ranking of 46th. Everton (62nd), Celtic (64th), Southampton (82nd), Swansea (86th) and Wigan Athletic (98th) are also in the top 100.
