According to reports coming out of Saudi Arabia, Brazilian superstar Casemiro could be on his way to join up with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.
According to 'Sport Jazirah', who are connected to renowned news publisher Al Jazeera, the defensive midfielder — who only has one year left on his contract with Manchester United— is in talks with the Riyadh-based club.
Should a deal be agreed, the 33-year-old would line-up alongside stars like Sadio Mane and Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, in what is expected to be a big season for Al-Nassr as they look to improve on last season’s 3rd-place finish.
A reunion between Ronaldo and Casemiro should be nothing less than explosive. Not only did the two play together for a season at Manchester United, but they also won four Champions League titles together at Real Madrid.
Despite making an instant impact to United’s struggling squad when he first arrived at Old Trafford for €70 million in the summer of 2022, Casemiro has since come under intense scrutiny from United fans after a string of poor performances in the first half of the 2024/25 season.
Despite a tough start to the season and Casemiro’s high wage bill, the 33-year-old did begin to win favour with Ruben Amorim towards the end of the season, even becoming a regular starter.
Now as United look to move on from their worst campaign in more than 30-years, it is expected that The Red Devils will look to make significant changes across their squad. At 33, Casemiro is one of the names likely to be moved on elsewhere.
In total, Casemiro has made 125-appearances for the Red Devils and has 29 combined goals and assists across all competitions .
Cristiano Ronaldo was himself linked to a move away from Al-Nassr earlier in the summer, after failing to secure Saudi Arabia’s most prestigious title — the Saudi Pro League title — since arriving in Riyadh in 2023, but has since penned a new deal, keeping him at Al-Nassr until June 2027.
The combination of those poor performances with Casemiro’s high wages, a reported £350,000 per week, have made the former Porto FC and Real Madrid man a symbol of the poor financial planning that has held United back since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson as head coach in 2013.
