Leaked images show Boca Juniors shirt commemorates famous Real Madrid win

Few phrases in the English language will raise the heart-rate of any self-respecting football hipster quite like 'new Boca Juniors shirt'. If that's you - and let's face it, you're already here reading this, so it probably is - then we have good news. A new fourth shirt (yes, fourth) is in the offing for Argentina's most famous club, paying tribute to the game in which they defeated the mighty Real Madrid to claim the 2000 Intercontinental Cup. The Intercontinental Cup, for those not old enough to remember it, was a one-off game between the champions of Europe and South America - the predecessor to the Club World Cup. Two Martin Palermo goals inside the opening six minutes were enough for Boca to win the 2000 edition, with Real only able to reply with a solitary Roberto Carlos free-kick. Combining Boca's traditional home colours, the new shirt features Japanese writing on its chest, a nod to the win over Real taking place in Tokyo. The shirt is predominantly blue but a darker tone to Boca's home offering. The traditional horizontal gold bar across its middle is nowhere to be seen, but the colour can be seen in the adidas stripes running down the shirt's right sleeve. Interestingly, the opposite sleeve features the stripes in Boca blue. As pointed out by leaked football kit aficionados Footy Headlines, the shirt has been leaked by a Olé, which feature pictures of Carlos Tevez posing in it. Word of a new Boca shirt isn't the first new kit news reaching us from that part of the world.
