Jose Mourinho has hit back at Pep Guardiola with a brutal dig relating to the 115 charges Man City are currently facing.
The Fenerbahçe manager spoke out after Guardiola took aim at Mourinho following reporters drawing comparisons between their bragging of their league titles count.
Mourinho famously once left a Man United press conference with three fingers up, saying "three times" in reference to his number of Premier League titles.
Now, in a moment of apparent head loss from City manager Pep Guardiola in their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool last week, the Spaniard replicated this gesture as he signalled six fingers to the Liverpool fans at Anfield, symbolising his six titles.
Journalists drew comparisons between the two moments, saying that Mourinho's gesture came at the start of the end of his time at Old Trafford, suggesting this could be the same for Pep.
The city manager replied: "I hope not in my case… He won three, I won six.. but we are the same like that.
"It [the gesture] was just to make our fans feel that what we have done is extraordinary. I want to prove that we are an incredible football club. Sooner or later it’s going to be the end but I will try to extend as much as possible for the best of my club."
While it wasn't the most offensive of digs, Mourinho was clearly perturbed by Pep's comments as he referenced what Pep had mentioned.
Mourinho said: "He won six trophies and I won three, but I won fairly and cleanly.
"If I lost, I want to congratulate my opponent because he was better than me. I don’t want to win by dealing with 150 lawsuits."
This was in clear refence to the current 115 charges Man City is facing for alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP).
The hearing got underway in September with a verdict originally set for the end of 2024, however, this has since been extended to 2025.
Although, The Times report that we will likely be waiting beyond the end of the current season for a verdict.
