The results have been revealed in a study by journalist Nick Harris on his excellent Sporting Intelligence website and it only reaffirms the perception that being a footballer is an extremely lucrative career move.
Eight of the top 12 highest paying sports teams in the world are football teams and four of those eight teams ply their trade in the Premier League.
None of them can quite match the paying power of French giants PSG, mind, who pay their squad an average of $174,692 (approximately €157,000) per week.
