The man who took on Jones Jr in the bizarre boxing match was 33-year-old Vyron Phillip. He won the right to fight the ex-champion after being picked from 1,500 entries on a Facebook vote and was due to scoop a $100,000 payout if he won the contest staged in Phoenix, Arizona.
He wasn't exactly a novice, but his 6-1 record in amateur boxing and a 5-3 MMA record was nowhere near the class of fighters Jones Jr faced on his way to titles at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.
It was aired on pay-per-view on the internet at $11.99 alongside some wrestling and grappling matching in Arizona.
Needless to say Phillip didn't last long in there against the boxing great. A short right hand from the veteran finished his night early in the second round.
