Fans have taken to social media to express their bemusement after a crazy end to an Olympic football match between Morocco and Argentina they claim was 'rigged'.
The two nations took part in a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in the Group B of the Olympic football event, with Argentina coming back from a 2-0 deficit.
Soufiane Rahimi gave Morocco a convincing lead after scoring either side of half time, although Argentina gave themselves a lifeline in 68th minute with a Giovanni Simeone goal.
The eventual equaliser for the world champions came in unbelievably late fashion as Cristian Medina scoring in a frantic pin-ball like goal-mouth scrabble which included the ball crashing off the bar twice.
The official time for the goal was in the 16th minute of added time which, despite likely following FIFA's new rules on more accurate added time, left commentators and fans alike bamboozled by the never ending match.
One fan said: "Argentina equalise in the 116th minute. The biggest scandal in Olympics Football history."
Another person wrote: "This is the most rigged thing ever. How is that even possible? There was nothing, should have been maximum 5 minutes."
Meanwhile one fan said: "Commentator was like, 'I don't Know why there is 15 minutes extra time!'"
Sour scenes unfolded after the late equaliser as Moroccan fans invaded the pitch in protest ultimately leading to teams being unsure if the match had even finished.
Now the two times will play an additional final three minutes in the stadium once it is empty.
Argentina remain favourites for the gold medal with Javier Mascherano managing a squad bursting with talent with the likes of Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Otamendi all involved.
