An unnamed England international has been reported to have taken cocaine in a nightclub toilet by the Sun newspaper. The report claims that the player was kicked out of the nightclub after being caught taking the class-A drug in the gents' toilets. It is claimed that a teammate spotted him 'doing a line' before emerging from the toilet looking 'worse for wear'. The Sun report that a "club insider" said: "Everyone is talking about it. “It wasn’t the club’s official Christmas party but a few drinks after a game and many of the players and manager were there. “One of the players saw him doing a line in the toilets then half an hour later he was all over the place. His jaw was working overtime and he was a mess. “He wasn’t just drunk. The gaffer was furious and got him out the back door and into a taxi thinking he had drunk too much.” The FA have asked for people to come forward with any information to aid their investigation into the incident. They can ban players who are found to have breached their 'social drugs policy'. The starting point for a first time offence is 0-3 months and the FA has the power to suspend players indefinitely if they have breached the rules multiple times. The FA says incidents of doping in English football are "rare", but the governing body insists it "remains a priority for The FA to find and sanction anyone found taking performance-enhancing or recreational drugs".
