Chelsea legend Eidur Gudjohnsen joins Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to boost Euro 2016 hopes

Eidur Gudjohnsen might have been close to international retirement in 2013, but he returned in time to help his country to their first ever major tournament.

The former Chelsea and Barcelona forward said he had probably played his last game for Iceland when they lost out on a 2014 World Cup place at the playoff stage, but he is now doing all he can to feature at Euro 2016. That has led the 37-year-old to join Molde, managed by former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in an attempt to get regular football in the build-up to the tournament. Norwegian outlet Rbnett reports that Gudjohnsen, who last played in China for Shijiazhuang Ever Bright, expects to join up with the Molde squad in the coming days. If all goes to plan, the site claims, the veteran could even feature in the Europa League match against Sevilla. Molde finished sixth in last season's Norwegian Tippeligaen, but are hoping for a solid 2016 campaign after winning their last five games under returning manager Solskjaer.
