Erik ten Hag's tenure as Manchester United manager came to an end this morning after the club sacked him following the Reds' poor start to the season.
The club currently sit 14th in the table having lost four out of nine league games and the loss against West Ham at the weekend was the final straw.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is 'working with the club' on the next steps, stepping in as interim manager until a replacement is found.
However, some fans think that it was the wrong decision to let the Dutchman go.
In a poll on Sky Sports, 27 per cent of those surveyed said that United should not have sacked the 54-year-old.
Ten Hag was retained in the summer after helping his side lift the FA Cup trophy after beating City in the final.
However, with the club already losing touch of the European positions, the club have now made the decision to sack him.
The club have now released an official statement:
"Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.
"Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
"We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
"Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited."
Former England manager Gareth Southgate has emerged as one of the favourites to succeed Ten Hag, while others have called for Jose Mourinho to return to the club.
