BBC defends Question Of Sport after new show flooded with complaints within minutes

The BBC has defended its move to shake up the A Question of Sport lineup after viewers complained the show had been "totally ruined". The latest series of A Question of Sport started this week with Paddy McGuinness as the frontman and Sam Quek and Ugo Monye acting as team captains. https://twitter.com/Parkin91/status/1433864045648617475 Previously, the show was home to Sue Barker, Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson. But for some, the talent shakeup has not been the fresh breath of air the broadcaster intended. In fact, they want the old lineup back. "Well a Question of Sport has been totally ruined," wrote one angry fan on Twitter. Another wrote: "Just watched A Question of Sport, & Paddy McGuinness now holds a special place in British television history. https://twitter.com/Philip_RJ89/status/1433876481013342209 "He’s the first presenter to take a shit on the legacy of two iconic television programmes, without having deserved to host either of them. That takes some doing." But the BBC is having none of it and has released a statement in response.

"Question of Sport has been a firm favourite of BBC One audiences for over 50 years,’ a spokesperson said in a statement.

"One of the reasons the show remains successful is because the hosts and captains change.

"It’s always been important that Question of Sport remains an authentic sports quiz which we hope continues to entertain."

Paddy himself released a statement prior to the show's release.

"All the games have been high-scoring, so there’s been plenty of answers and plenty of fun. I think people on a Friday night, especially when the family gets around the telly, they’re going to enjoy it," he said.

"It’s not a whole, brand new thing, it’s just nice and chilled, but with a few new elements.

"I like the dynamic and how it’s working, and I like how it works on the floor as well."
