Will Smith has confirmed that he will be working alongside Michael B. Jordan on I Am Legend 2.
The script for the film will reportedly follow an alternative ending from the original film where Smith's character doesn't die.
As you can probably remember, in 2007's original, Smith's character sacrifices himself to rescue fellow survivors Ethan and Anna, handing them a cure for the virus as he fends off the mutant swarms.
However in the alternate ending, Smith's character realises that the mutants are actually rescuing the being he'd experimented on, and he and the mutants end things amicably allowing him, Anna, and Ethan to leave in peace.
In this alternative ending, Smith's character has to come to the conclusion that he is a monster in their world. And it is believed that this will be a huge part of the sequel.
The actor made the hugely anticipated update while speaking on a panel at the Red Seal Film Festival.
While Smith didn't drop any spoilers for the movie, he did confirm that he would be working alongside Jordan on the sequel in the near future.
He said: "I have a call with Michael B. Jordan tomorrow. We’re really close. I am probably giving up too much information…the script just came in. We’re going with the mythology of the DVD version where my character lives and I can’t tell you anymore."
Good times for a change.
