Former international rugby star Cornal Hendricks has died aged 37.
Hendricks, who played 12 times for South Africa, died after suffering a heart attack.
The winger scored 25 points for the Springboks during his career.
He played his entire club career, from 2008 to 2024, in his homeland.
Back in 2016, when he joined the Stormers, he was diagnosed with a serious heart condition.
He returned to playing rugby with the Bulls and was on the verge of making a comeback to South Africa.
Last year, Hendricks played his final match against Northampton Saints in the Champions Cup quarter finals.
In a statement South Africa said that Hendricks would be remembered as a 'remarkable athlete' who played the game with a 'smile on his face'.
The President of SA Rugby, Mark Alexander, said: "We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Cornal Hendricks, a remarkable athlete who represented his country in sevens and fifteen-man rugby with distinction.
"Cornal was one of those players who loved the game and he worked extremely hard, but he always did so with a smile on his face, treating all people with respect. His energy and love of life, on and off the field, lifted his team-mates and those around him.
"His contributions to the sport and his unwavering dedication will always be remembered. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Stephaney and their children, his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations."
