Netflix forced to remove scenes from Squid Game

The scenes had resulted in members of the public being harassed

Netflix has been forced to remove some scenes from Squid Game because they showed the phone numbers of real people. The show has taken the world by storm since arriving on the platform on September 17, sitting top of Netflix's global charts and well on its way to becoming Netflix's most popular show ever. But despite being fictional, some scenes showed telephone numbers belonging to real people, causing them to receive thousands of calls and texts from people across the world. One of the people whose real phone number was featured in the show told Korean Money Today that he was receiving thousands of nuisance calls. He said: "It has come to the point where people are reaching out day and night due to their curiosity. "Together with the production company, we are working to resolve this matter, including editing scenes with phone numbers where necessary," a spokesperson told The Independent. It's not the only real-world chaos that the show has caused though. A South Korean internet provider is suing the streaming platform because of the increased traffic it is having to deal with and the strain this is putting on their infrastructure. SK Broadband are now asking that Netflix pay for network access and help provide money for them to deal with network maintenance. Related links:
