Our grandparents remember the first man on the moon. Our parents remember the fall of the Berlin Wall. Our siblings remember McBusted. And we, well we remember Barbenheimer.
Billed as the cinematic event of the year, the release of such ridiculously polar opposite films on the same day has sparked excitement in almost every country across the world.
It's like Ali vs Foreman, Oasis vs Blur, Barcelona vs Real Betis. Whose side are you on? Are you in the dark world of Robert Oppenheimer? Father of the atomic bomb? Destroyer of worlds? Or are you a barbie girl, in a barbie world, is life fantastic? Not in the next room it's not.
The release of both films on the same day has sparked a global phenomena online with many people planning weeks in advance to see both films on the same day and now, as it has began showing in cinemas, people who watched Oppenheimer before Barbie have issued some stark warning to others thinking about doing the same thing.
But what's the problem? Well, it's essentially that the films are so so radically different. One of full of colour and life and escapism. Barbie girl and Ken. Pink everything, fast cars, beauty. The other is about death.
Taking to Twitter, one person who went to view Oppenheimer first, followed by Barbie, said: "If u haven’t watched them yet then def watch Barbie first, u will feel empty after Oppenheimer."
Another person wrote: "WARNING: Do not watch Oppenheimer before Barbie."
Another person quickly commented: "Did y'all forget the subject matter for Oppenheimer?"
One Twitter user shared a GIF of The Weeknd running through a corridor and wrote: "Trying to get out of the cinema and past the crowds while I could still hear and see explosions in my memory."
Which are you most excited for?
