Apple's new iPhone is expected to be released in just a few weeks and users can expect some big changes.
While the tech giant hasn't confirmed an exact release date, reports suggest it could be September 12 or 13, when the company holds it Apple Special Event. The phone is then expected to go on sale on 22 September.
Rumours suggest iPhone user may see the biggest upgrade to the device since 2017 when Apple launched the iPhone X.
At Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference in June, the company announced what new features would be coming to iOS 17 when the iPhone 15 iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max launches, The Independent reported.
The publisher suggested the upgrade includes everything from journalling tools and AirDrop updates to live transcription in voicemail and a new standby mode that turns your iPhone into a smart display (like an Amazon Echo Show).
The company also unveiled the Apple Vision Pro at the event.
The Indy further reported that Apple could remove the mechanical volume and power buttons on its handsets and replace them with solid-state ones, give the Pro line-up a new titanium design and even launch an iPhone 15 Ultra in 2024.
Gurman reportedly learned about the announcement date following Apple's post-earnings call 3 August, and suggested the release will mark the "biggest update to the device in three years".
Rumours suggest the new phone may have a slightly thinner frame and rounder edges, similar to the original iPhones, and the front and back glass surfaces might have a slight curvature to make them easier to hold and carry.
The pro models are likely to come with a titanium frame. Existing iPhone's have a stainless-steal frame.
In terms of sound changes, Apple is said to be doing away with the standard buttons on the side of the phone, instead opting for two new modules which simulate the feeling of pressing buttons, without actually doing so, through haptic technology.
And, of course, the camera is getting better. An image leaked on the Chinese social media site Weibo suggests the iPhone 15 Pro Max model will come with a periscope camera with optical zoom capabilities.
Reports also suggest that the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will adopt the Dynamic Island of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, as well as implementing a new 48-megapixel primary rear camera.
Charging ports may also be set to chance, after a ruling that all new phones have a USB-C Charging port.
