West Ham United were forced to redo their announcement for Gianluca Scamacca after misspelling the name of their new signing. The Premier League outfit confirmed the arrival of the Italian striker on Tuesday after agreeing a £31million deal with Serie A side Sassuolo. The 23-year-old registered 16 goals and one assist in 38 appearances in all competitions last season, earning a call-up to the Italy national side. Hammers spell Scamacca's name incorrectly

The Hammers unveiled their new signing with a classy video on social media, which included a nod to Channel 4's iconic Football Italia coverage from the nineties. However, the club had to delete their first attempt after spelling Scamacca's name wrong. In the announcement video, West Ham wrote 'Scamaca' - missing a 'c'. The Premier League club also reportedly had his new No.7 shirt available in their club shop before the official announcement was put out on social media.

Scamacca insists West Ham are 'perfect fit' for him

The Italian frontman believes West Ham is the perfect fit for him after signing a five-year deal at the London Stadium. "I’ve waited a long time for this moment – it’s been a dream to play in the Premier League," he said. The Hammers have been linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Filip Kostic.
