Welsh fighter expected to fight on undercard of Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather Promotions could put a three-hour thumb war on the undercard of the August 26 event and at least 4 million would still be guaranteed to buy the pay-per-view.

But they're not taking the piss out of the public and are seemingly giving the card's buyers value for money, with 10 weeks to go until fight night. The event will be primarily promoted by Mayweather Promotions and fighters from Floyd Mayweather's stable are expected to feature in the build-up to the headliner, when Conor McGregor will make his first walk to the boxing ring. Gervonta Davis has hinted that he will compete on August 26 while another fighter dubbed a Mayweather protege, Badou Jack, is also close to being confirmed for the undercard. https://twitter.com/Gervontaa/status/876902768241291264 Jack, fresh from his draw with James DeGale in January, is expected to clash with another British fighter on the August card. The former WBC super-middleweight champion has told Boxing News Online that he will meet Welshman Nathan Cleverly at the T-Mobile Arena.

"They’re still working on it so I’m just waiting for them to make it official," Jack said. "That’s the next fight. That’s what they’re working on and it looks like it’s going to be on Floyd’s undercard."

Jack vacated his WBC title in January in order to move up to light heavyweight, with Cleverly expected to be his first test at 175lbs. Cleverly hasn't fought since last October, when he beat Jürgen Brähmer for the WBA (Regular) light heavyweight title. If and when Jack vs. Cleverly is confirmed for August 26, a victory will represent one step closer to undefeated light heavyweight kingpin Andre Ward, who claimed his second win in seven months over Sergey Kovalev.
