Steven Gerrard could become the next Trabzonspor manager after flying into Istanbul for talks with the Turkish side.
Gerrard has been out of work since October after being sacked by Aston Villa after a poor run of form which saw them win only two of their opening 11 games.
Karar have reported that the former Rangers boss has flown into Turkey to have talks with the club's president, Ertugrul Dogan.
The Turkish champions are set to elect a new president in March, with Dogan in the running. If he is successful, then it is believed he will entrust the 42-year-old to take charge.
Trabzonspor are sixth in the Turkish Super Lig with previous manager Abdullah Avcı quitting after a 2-1 defeat against bottom of the table Umraniyespor last week.
They are currently five points adrift of third place and have won 11 of their 23 games this season.
Poland were close to appointing Gerrard as the manager of their national side towards the end of 2022 but opted to go for Fernando Santos, formerly of Portugal, instead.
He first began his coaching career at Liverpool as head coach of the Under 18s side before moving north of the border to take over at Rangers.
It was there where the ex-reds captain made his mark, winning the Scottish Premiership in 2021 without losing a league game.
After a successful stint at Ibrox, Gerrard made the move to Villa to replace Dean Smith. Despite the strong start in the West Midlands, form tailed off and he left the Villains 17th in the league before Unai Emery was brought in to take the reigns.
