Sebastien Haller ‘out for months’ after testicular tumour surgery

Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastien Haller will be "out for a few months" after having surgery on a testicular tumour, the Bundesliga club confirmed.  The 28-year-old found a tumour in his testicle last week as he prepared for the season with his new team in Switzerland, with the club confirming the news. Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has since confirmed that the Ivory Coast international had a 'successful operation' last week.

"The operation went very, very well and he's on the right track," said Kehl.

While Kehl also revealed that treatment plans were still being discussed, he insisted that a return date had yet to be fixed.

"Sebastien will be out for a few months but once we can be more precise about that we will communicate it," he added.

Haller joined the Bundesliga outfit from Ajax earlier this month, having been at West Ham before that. He scored 34 times for the Dutch side last season - the best goalscoring season of his career.

11 of his goals came in eight Champions League games, but Ajax were eliminated by Benfica in the last-16 stage.

Dortmund begin their Bundesliga campaign against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday August 6.
