Police investigating attack on Sikh fan during Arsenal-Liverpool clash

Both Arsenal and the police are investigating an alleged attack on a Sikh fan during the Gunners' Premier League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday night. The claim, which was made by Gurpreet Singh on Twitter, alleges that a Sikh supporter was targeted and had his turban taken from his head while in the toilets. "Hearing news of a Sikh Arsenal fan who was attacked during the match last night and had his turban removed in the toilets," the tweet read. "We are aware of the shocking reports and we are investigating the incident which has not yet been reported formally to us," a spokesperson for the club said in a statement. "Arsenal is a home for everyone and we take all forms of discriminatory abuse and violence extremely seriously. We will not stand for this kind of behaviour." While no reports have been made to the Metropolitan Police, the force are also carrying out enquiries into the alleged attack. "We are aware of a post on social media regarding a racially aggravated assault that was reported to have occurred at the Emirates Stadium on the evening of Wednesday, March 16," a Met Police spokesperson told football.london. "We are not aware of any crime reports being received matching the description of the offence, however officers are carrying out enquiries."
