The PGMOL have confirmed that they will investigate the incident involving Andy Robertson and linesman, Constantine Hatzidakis.
As the game was paused for half time Liverpool players went to protest a number of decisions that had gone against him before Jamie Carragher picked up on the incident involving Robertson.
Footage captured by the Sky Sports cameras appeared to show the assistant raising an arm to the face of the Scotland international, to which he shouted: “he’d just elbowed me in the throat.”
Pitchside reporter Geoff Shreeves also confirmed that the full back was left seething in the Anfield tunnel and made his feelings known to the officials, along with captain Jordan Henderson, who also spoke to the officials in support of his teammate.
Following the incident, the PGMOL released a statement to say they will look into the footage. It said: "PGMOL is aware of an incident involving assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at half-time during the Liverpool v Arsenal fixture at Anfield. We will review the matter in full once the game has concluded."
Roy Keane however wasn't as convinced by Robertson's behaviour and called out the full back for aggravating Hatzidakis first.
"No [I haven't seen that before], not really. But Robertson, do you know what, does he grab the linesman first? I'm not sure, but he's complaining. He should be more worried about his defending," Keane exclaimed.
"Do you know what it is, that Robertson? I've watched him a number of times. He's a big baby. That's what he is. Just get on with the game and concentrate on your defending. He does grab the linesman first."
Liverpool fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 after first half strikes from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus put the Gunners in control.
Mohamed Salah reduced the deficit just before half time however the Egyptian missed a penalty shortly after the restart. Roberto Firmino came off the bench to equalise with minutes to go.
