It wasn't quite a demolition job but the expected result eventually arrived when Gokhan Saki made his UFC debut on Friday night.
The kickboxing legend held a record of 83-12 in the discipline which made his name, with 59 of his victories coming by way of KO/TKO, before he stepped through the Octagon doors for the first time and his striking acumen will have plenty of light heavyweights looking to duck 'The Rebel'.
The UFC's return to Japan hosted Saki's second bout under MMA rules and it was memorable to say the least.
Durable Brazilian 205lber Henrique da Silva was tasked with welcoming Saki to the Octagon and the pair put on a thrilling show in the one round of action they delivered to the fans packed inside the Saitama Super Arena, one of MMA's most iconic venues.
Saki pushed the pace early but began showing signs of fatigue as the end of the opening frame approached.

And just when da Silva felt like he could potentially take over and wear on Saki's fatigue, the debutant unleashed a savage left hook which sent his opponent to the mat.
It was nothing less than Saki expected as he shrugged towards his corner while the referee waved the fight off before the 33-year-old punted his gumshield into the crowd.
"I'm an elite athlete," Saki said after his hand was raised. "Whatever the sport, I will learn. If I love something, I will learn everything."
