Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to become the next head coach of the US men's national team (USMNT), according to reports.
The Athletic reports that sources with knowledge of the situation have confirmed the agreement.
The appointment is a huge coup for the US football side and its fanbase, which had been hoping for a big name appointment.
With the 2026 World Cup taking place in the USA, it will be hoped that Pochettino can spark some life into a national team that has disappointed in recent months.
Reports last week had said Pochettino was a top target for the vacant job in charge of the USMNT. This will be his first job in international management.
The 52-year-old has been out of work ever since he parted company with Chelsea in May this year.
He had also been linked with the England job over the last month after Gareth Southgate stepped down from his role in charge of the men's side.
Pochettino will be working with a familiar face in the US, having worked with US Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker during his time at Southampton.
The former Tottenham, PSG and Chelsea man is the highest profile hire the USMNT has made since Jurgen Klinsmann was appointed manager.
Previous head coach Gregg Berhalter was fired from the role last month after the US failed to make it out of the group stage of this year's Copa America.
Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which is taking place largley in the USA, along with Mexico and Canada, there is pressure on the hosts to be competitive at the tournament.
