Manchester United has been revealed as the second best run club in England as per a recent reports by Fair Game UK.
This was announced as part of the 2024 Fair Game Index which ranks clubs based on four factors to give an average index score.
These four factors concern finance, governance, fan engagement and equality and ethical standards.
These measures are weighted with financial being the most important making up 40% of the score.
Based off these measures, every professional football club in England and Scotland have been ranked with the results making for intriguing reading as Manchester United managed to bag themselves second place.
The top five consists of Norwich in fifth, Brentford in fourth, Cambridge United in third, Manchester United in second and Tottenham Hotspur taking top spot as the most well-run football club in the land.
Fair Game UK say that, "each of the criteria is developed from dozens of touchpoints, creating the most comprehensive analysis of teams in the English and Scottish football pyramids," with the weighting decided by a team of experts.
The organisation says its aim is to, "monitor the sustainability of football clubs by looking at their financial solvency, governance and equality and ethical standards, and fan and community engagement."
Out of the rest of the 'big six' teams Man City were ranked 13th, Arsenal came in 17th, Liverpool were 10th and Chelsea ranked above City in 12th.
Some of the lowest scorers in the Premier League were Newcastle in 41st, Nottingham Forest in 52nd and Bournemouth in 53rd.
Fair Game say "football should reward well-run clubs, and incentivise clubs to change. Football’s financial flow should be based on those that score well on financial measures, good governance, equality standards and fan and community engagement."
After seeing the rankings fans took to social media to express their thoughts.
One user said: "Manchester United that have leaking roof and spoil chairs, they have they best PR in England."
Another person wrote: "Spurs finally first in something."
Meanwhile one person said: "I’m assuming this is based off the last 4 weeks? As there’s no way United before INEOS could be considered well-run."
The index gives an indication based on the season just passed with a report for this season to be released next year where things could look different for a lot of teams.
