Many Manchester United players and staff were reportedly in tears yesterday (Saturday) as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed the dressing room following the team's 4-1 defeat against Watford. Both Bruno Fernandes and David de Gea were quick to point out that the players are just as much to blame for the clubs recent run of rueful results, with the Portuguese midfielder making a visible display as he exited the pitch on Saturday. Yesterday's result at Vicarage Road is the fourth Premier League defeat in five games, putting them 12 points behind Chelsea at the top of the league. According to the Independent, sources claim that Solskjaer himself admitted that he didn't know whether he would be in charge for United's next match against Villareal on Tuesday. Regardless, many fans will be delighted to see the back of OGS, as attested to by the torrent of boos and Vs which were directed at the manager when he walked over to them after the game. Solskjaer himself put on a brave front for the media, insisting things are not quite as dire as they seem: "I always have belief in myself. Of course, at the minute it's a difficult time for us. Sadly, this time the hopeful smiles and assurances weren't enough. It is widely agreed upon that United are now eyeing Zinedine Zidane to take up the mantle, with very few other appealing options out there to fill Ole's boots. For now, first-team coach and fellow former player Michael Carrick will be interim coach, with the likes of Mike Phelan, Kieran McKenna and Darren Fletcher all expected to stay on un for the time being.
