Manchester United have reportedly 'made contact' with Xavi as pressure continues to mount on Erik ten Hag, as per Mail Sport.
It is understood by the source that intermediaries have made contact with the former Barcelona manager twice in the past months.
Omar Berrada reportedly flew out to Barcelona last Thursday, leading a four-man team.
Despite this, sources from the club have told Mail Sport that meetings have taken place in the Catalan capital due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe supporting the Britannia sailing team, which is owned by Ineos.
However, this has also caused speculation that Xavi could be Ten Hag's successor, should he be sacked.
United sources have confirmed that Erik ten Hag will remain the manager for the future, as the club prepare for Thursday's Europa League clash versus Fenerbahce.
The club have suffered a poor start to the season, however will be hoping Saturday's 2-1 victory over Brentford should be a turning point.
The Red Devils showed resilience to come from behind after the Bees took the lead at Old Trafford.
