Man City fan left hospitalised after being assaulted at Belgian service station

He was "left for dead" after an altercation with a Club Brugge fan

A Manchester City fan was left fighting for his life after being assaulted at a service station in Belgium following City's 5-1 Champions League win over Club Brugge on Tuesday night. The fan was approached by a rival fan who pulled his City scarf from his neck, The Mirror are reporting. When attempting to retrieve his scarf, the Brugge fan reacted by landing a "heavy blow to the head", according to the victim's son Jurgen, who is the co-chairman of Blue Moon Belgium. "After the game, we stopped at the parking lot along the E40 in Drongen," he said, as per The Mirror. "While we were already driving on, my dad was still waiting outside for his two friends. There, a Club Brugge supporter approached him and pulled his scarf from around his neck. "When my dad asked for his scarf back, he received a heavy blow to the head, after which the perpetrators fled and left my dad for dead." City cruised to a 5-1 victory in Belgium, with goals coming from Joao Cancelo, Riyad Mahrez, Kyle Walker and 19-year-old Cole Palmer. They now sit second in their Champions League group on six points, one behind Paris Saint-Germain.
