Leicester City have officially appointed Craig Shakespeare as manager

Leicester City have appointed Claudio Ranieri's replacement, and Foxes fans will be relieved to know Roy Hodgson won't be taking the job.

The former England coach was linked with the position following Ranieri's dismissal at the end of February. Martin O'Neill, Guus Hiddink and Michael O'Neill were also linked. However, Leicester have opted to name Craig Shakespeare manager until the end of the season. Shakespeare's first game as caretaker was the 3-1 victory against Liverpool at the King Power stadium, when Jamie Vardy scored twice. Leicester followed that up with another 3-1 win, this time against Hull City, and have moved up to 15th in the table. When Ranieri was sacked, they were just about to drop into the relegation zone and had yet to score a league goal in 2017. We always knew the team would be in good hands when we asked him to take charge a fortnight ago," Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said.

"He has initiated the type of positive response that we hoped change would bring, showing great leadership qualities and composure under considerable pressure to produce two very important results. "We have asked him to continue to lead the team this season and we are very happy that he has accepted.”
