Referee Craig Pawson initially waved for play to continue following the challenge, however, the game was quickly stopped following a strong reaction from the surrounding players, particularly Mohamed Salah.
After a VAR review, Pawson was instructed to show Struijk a red card - but people were mainly concerned with whether or not the former Fulham man would make a full recovery. Liverpool's No 67 underwent successful surgery and his road to recovery began shortly after - recently posting an image of himself cycling on an exercise bike.
However, it looks as though Elliott has stepped up his rehab once again, this time, sharing a video of himself walking in water at a reduced body weight at the Reds' AXA Training Centre.
The midfielder also posted a video montage showing other parts of his rehabilitation, captioned: "One day at a time, getting stronger." https://www.instagram.com/p/CVSs3m9Kx7E/ Understandably, Liverpool are yet to give a time frame as to when Elliott will return to football, allowing the youngster as long as he needs to fully recover from the injury.
