Harry Kane has smashed a Bundesliga record previously held by Erling Haaland as he continues to add to his list of impressive individual accolades.
Bayern Munich thrashed Holstein Kiel 6-1 as Vincent Kompany’s side continued their perfect start to the season.
During that victory, Kane netted a hat-trick of goals and bagged an assist as Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise and a Nicolai Remberg own goal completed the scoresheet.
Kane scored twice before half-time before a penalty in the 91st minute saw him take home the match ball.
However, he had already secured a Bundesliga record before his side headed in at the break after providing the assist for Musiala in the first minute.
He directed a header into the path of the German international who opened the scoring.
Kane then put two goals past Marcel Rapp’s side as he pounced with a first-time finish after they spilled the ball in a dangerous area. He scored his second moments before half-time.
Prior to kick-off Kane had 47 goal contributions (classified as a goal or an assist) from 34 appearances.
He needed just three more contributions to become the fastest man to reach 50 goal involvements in the league’s history, a record previously held by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland who achieved the feat at Borussia Dortmund.
In the game against Holstein Kiel, Kane reached 51 goal involvements in 35 appearances, scoring 39 goals and 11 assists.
It took the Norwegian 42 games to reach a half-century across two-and-a-half seasons.
Kane’s goals against the newly promoted Holstein Kiel meant he has now scored against every one of the 18 Bundesliga opponents he has faced.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker is in great form; during the international break he scored both goals in England’s 2-0 win over Finland in his 100th cap for the Three Lions.
On Tuesday, Bayern will host Dinamo Zagreb as they get their Champions League campaign underway.
