At the time, he issued emotional farewells to the club and to his former teammates, before joining Ligue Un side Lille on a free transfer. He was immediately loaned to Portuguese side Boavista, and has hit the ground running. In four league appearances and 333 minutes his Boavista, Gomes has two goals and two assists, meaning that he has played a hand in an average of one goal every 84 minutes.
