Petr Čech makes ice hockey debut for Essex club

Petr Čech made his ice hockey debut for his new side Chelmsford Chieftains on Sunday. Čech, who retired from football in 2019, had been playing for Guildford Phoenix but moved this year after winning the treble. Having made the step up a division, the 40-year-old made his debut against Oxford Stars in the National League Division One and earned his stripes with a man of the match performance. Čech had a successful career on the football pitch, winning four Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and Europa League during his time as a footballer in England. The former Chelsea goalkeeper left Stamford Bridge this summer after working there as a technical advisor following Todd Boehly's takeover of the club having been in the role since 2019.
