A non-league club have announced that they are looking to hire a 'Football Manager' video game player as a full-time tactician.
Bromley of the Vanarama National League announced the scheme on Tuesday as part of a competition which will see them offer a full-time role as a 'Support Performance Tactician' to the winner.
The lucky winner will then work alongside the club's coaching staff, including manager Andy Woodman and first-team coach Alan Dunne to help provide tactical insight going forward.
'The Everyday Tactician' — a competition run by Xbox and Football Manager - has been created to celebrate 20 years of the game, created by Sports Interactive.
Woodman said: "At Bromley FC, we pride ourselves on being a community club, so we're very much looking forward to welcoming an enthusiastic supporter to our backroom staff. There are definitely plenty out there who know how to guide us to glory in the Football Manager game, so we're excited to welcome someone who can replicate that in the real world."
Miles Jacobson, Sports Interactive’s studio director, added: "Football fans are full of opinions on how their team can do better on the pitch – now with the help of Xbox and Bromley F.C. we can finally find out if their theories are right and follow the journey of 'The Everyday Tactician’. I expect there might be a bit more to it than even we at Football Manager anticipate."
In order to be in contention, those wishing to enter must unlock the box achievement ‘Championes’ in FM24 on PC with PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate, and on console with Game Pass for Console or Game Pass Ultimate.
They must guide a side of their choice to a domestic league title. Once completed, they then must fill out the application form along with a minute-long video explaining why they should be selected.
Successful applicants will then undertake a final interview with Bromley before a winner is announced.
TNT Sports are also set to share the process in a three-part documentary that will air in 2024.
