Liverpool's Alisson has issued a reminder to all Premier League goalkeepers of the most important part of their role.
Goalkeepers in the top flight have made mistakes since the start of the season, with the likes of Andre Onana and David Raya criticised in recent weeks.
Onana joined Manchester United in the summer, replacing David De Gea, but has faced a difficult start to life in England.
The former Inter Milan and Ajax 'keeper has been called out for his questionable positioning on some occasions while question marks over some of the goals he has conceded have also been raised.
Raya meanwhile replaced Aaron Ramsdale after Arsenal's win against Manchester United in September but has come under fire due to his distribution.
Alisson has been one of the league's top goalkeepers for a number of years and during a recent interview with the club's website, reminded his fellow counterparts of what is the expectation for them during games.
"Still saving goals. Of course, I think you see goalkeepers playing more with their feet from the back and you see teams playing more with their feet from the back, not only kicking long balls," he admitted.
"That affects our position a little bit, but I don't think it changed too much. We just improved things because of the necessity of what football is asking for. Football today is asking for a team who builds up."
He continued: "The goalkeeper needs to play, to be good with his feet, but the main part is making saves and doing what a goalkeeper does – leading the team, claiming crosses. So I think playing with your feet is more an extra thing than the main thing for a goalkeeper.
"Every situation is different and I don't do the same things all the time. I think this makes things difficult for the striker because if they know how I react in every situation they can just do something different. I try not to do predictable things and every situation and save is unique."
