Sunderland were dumped out of the FA Cup by League One outfit Port Vale on Sunday, but the result could have been far worse had match official Anthony Taylor opted to send off the Sunderland goalkeeper.
Midway through the second half, Port Vale looked all set to double their advantage over the Black Cats, as forward George Hall moved the ball around Melker Ellborg, and charged in the direction of an empty Sunderland net.

Hall was prevented from making an attempt on goal by the Sunderland keeper, who moved across and made a challenge to stop the Port Vale man from progressing any further.
The player was immediately handed a yellow card for the foul, which took place outside of the area, but fans have suggested the punishment should have been greater, considering Hall looked almost certain to score had he emerged from the encounter with the ball.
One fan said it was a "blatant red card."
Another added: "Absolutely robbed he had a open goal if not hacked down."
