FA fined by UEFA after England fans booed Irish national anthem

The European football body issued a £10,500 fine on the FA after England fans booed the Irish national anthem, Amhran na bhFiann at the Aviva Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) received a fine of £8,400 when home supporters booed God Save The King.

The FA were charged more because England were considered repeat offenders.

However, the FAI were given two further fines of £7,800 for lighting flares and a £5,000 penalty for a pitch invader.

England also saw a fan invade the pitch, leading to a £4,150 fine.

Ultimately the match ended 2-0 to England, with former Ireland internationals Jack Grealish and Declan Rice scoring the goals.
