Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has issued a statement after a fighter he represents, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a car crash in Nigeria on Monday.
Joshua’s vehicle, a Lexus, is reported to have been involved in a collision with another car, while investigations are ongoing regarding the circumstances of the crash.
The accident is reported to have occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to reports by eyewitnesses who helped at the scene, the 36-year-old British heavyweight has suffered minor injuries, but two other individuals have died as a result of the accident.
Joshua has been celebrating his win over Jake Paul in their heavyweight match earlier in December.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hearn said: "I am away on a family holiday and awoke to the news of this incident.
“We are trying to contact Anthony and in the meantime we don’t want to speculate on how he is but thankfully he appears OK from what I have seen in the images.
“We are awaiting more information on what has happened and will update in due course."
Joshua recorded a brilliant sixth round knockout victory over Jake Paul in December's Miami clash, his first fight in 14 months.
No information has been released from any of the fighter's representatives regarding the seriousness of his injuries, and it is still unclear whether the crash will have any impact at all on his boxing career.
